I was born the same year that Wilson introduced the legendary T-2000, the game's first stainless steel frame, affectionately known as Jimmy Connors' 'Excalibur'.​

The age of metal, and technological advances, had come to tennis. The tennis boom was here and Wilson was ready, although they hadn't invented the T-2000 - French legend René Lacoste had actually designed it in 1953, it's sweeping shape and metallic glint were the perfect fit for the Space Age 60's. It may have been a shock to traditionalists - for a century, tennis rackets had been made of wood, period - but it caught one ambitious junior's eye. As a teenager, Jimmy Connors caught a glimpse of a test model of the T-2000 and told his mother that he had to have it. It became little Jimbo's 'Excalibur,' and its trampoline effect helped him create the most potent baseline game in history to that point. Once Connors picked up the T-2000, in fact, he couldn't put it down. When Wilson took the racket out of production in the 1980s, he stockpiled every one he could find...

I've been playing tennis since I was 5 years old, coming from a very sporting family with the vast majority very accomplished players, especially my eldest Son, hoping that my youngest son will also follow in our footsteps, once he has learned how to walk...! Yet in 2014, I sustained a serious wrist injury that threatened to stop me from playing the sport, which like Jimbo, I am so passionate about. Subsequently, I started on a journey of discovery researching equipment including everything from weight & balance to swingweight & flex not to mention the minefield of different strings in the hope that I would find a solution to my desire to continue playing the sport that I am so enthusiastic about - To that end, I am always open to trying innovative equipment  - currently, I am wielding Prince's 'black mamba', the unique twisted shaft, 'twistpower X100 Tour' racket together with one of the industry's hottest strings - 'Grapplesnake Tour Sniper' a shaped poly designed for spin, comfort & tension maintenance…💥

Thereafter, Zx Racket Lab was formed to provide a racket stringing service for my local club. Today, we have evolved to provide a one - stop shop for players of all ages & abilities, whether recreational or professional from everything you need to take your game to the next level, whether that be a new racket to demo, pro tour stringing & customisation or even having your own court constructed.

Initially, this service was only available to the residents of The Cotswolds and surrounding areas where I reside, however, now that we have set up a London lab, strategically located in between The LTA's National Training Centre & Queens Club, home for many touring pros, we aim to provide a truly 'local, national & global' business whilst maintaining our presence in our original area of The Cotswolds. Nevertheless, for those clients who cannot get to one of our specialist labs/drop off/collection points, we offer a door-to-door mail order service, which is as simple as ordering your groceries without the fear of receiving something different to what you originally ordered…!
